GroupMe was launched in May 2010 by Jared Hecht and Steve Martocci. Later after a year, skype acquired GroupMe company where skype itself had been purchased by Microsoft.
Some of the features of the app include the ability to share photos, videos, and locations, and to create events, and emojis for better conversation. GroupMe has a web client as well as apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Windows 10. The user who does not wish to use the app can still send and receive GroupMe messages through SMS.
