No-code 2D game maker for Windows, from Gotcha Gotcha Games and KADOKAWA.
Pixel Game Maker MV is a Windows tool for making 2D action games without writing code. It sells on Steam for $84.99 and has a free trial.
It came out on 19 September 2019, developed by Gotcha Gotcha Games and KADOKAWA. You can build side-scrolling platformers, top-down games, shoot-'em-ups and battles for up to four players. It ships with character animations, tiles, music and sample projects, and you can add JavaScript plug-ins for more advanced actions. The Steam page warns that some Windows 11 systems may not launch it properly and suggests trying the free trial first.
Bottom line: a good fit for Windows users who want to make 2D action games fast with built-in assets. Test the free trial on your PC before you pay. On Mac or Linux, the editor will not run, so look at other tools.
Build platformers, top-down RPGs, multiplayer battles and shoot-'em-ups with no programming required.
Comes with character animations, tiles, music and sample projects to start from.
Optional plug-ins let you add more advanced actions and animations when the no-code tools are not enough.
Games can support up to four players, and the Steam version supports Remote Play Together.
