NameSnack is a free business name generator. You type a few words about your business and it returns 100+ short, brandable names, each one available to register as a .com. It still works, and its FAQ says it is 100% free. The site earns from ads and from a commission when you register a domain through one of its partners. NameSnack is run by Zarla Inc.
People look elsewhere when the results start to repeat, when they want a specific style such as real words or invented words, or when they need a trademark check before paying for a logo and a domain. The seven picks below start with free generators that give more control, then move to paid options where people or curators do the naming.
Prices below are as of November 8, 2026. Our method is on How we review tools.

Namelix
Namelix, built by the logo company Brandmark.io, is the closest upgrade for NameSnack users who want short, invented names. You choose a style (Brandable, Evocative, Short phrase, Compound words, Alternate spelling, Non-English words or Real words), set the length and the randomness, and save the names you like. The model learns from those saves, so each batch gets closer to your taste.
Names come with a domain check, and Brandmark can turn a favourite into a logo. Generating names costs nothing. If you want the logo as files, Brandmark charges US$35, US$95 or US$195 once.
Best for: Founders who want invented brand names and more say over how they sound.
Pricing:
- Name generator: free.
- Brandmark logo files: US$35 Basic, US$95 Designer, US$195 Enterprise, one-time.
Watch out for:
- Some styles go off the rails. A ZenBusiness review of Namelix found that the people's-names style produced some bizarre results.
Official site: Namelix.
Atom Business Name Generator
Atom, the company formerly called Squadhelp, runs a free AI generator that turns a short business description and optional root words into about 100 ranked names in roughly 30 seconds. It checks each name across .com, .ai, .io, .org, .net, .co and .app.
The useful extra is a preliminary USPTO screen for live trademarks with the same name, free and without signing up. NameSnack leaves trademark checks to you. Shortlisting is free too, and you pay only when you register a domain or buy a listing.
Best for: Anyone who wants a quick trademark screen on the names they like.
Pricing:
- Generator, shortlist, availability check and USPTO screen: free.
- Domains at registration price; marketplace names at their listed buy-now price.
Watch out for:
- Premium marketplace names appear among the AI ideas with buy-now prices, per the Atom generator page. The cheapest marketplace listings start around US$1,999, so check the price before you fall for a name.

Shopify Business Name Generator
Shopify's free generator is made for shop owners. You describe the store in up to 120 characters, and each search returns 100 AI-made names with an instant domain check. Searches are unlimited, so you can rerun a prompt as often as NameSnack lets you.
Picking a name moves you towards a Shopify store. The signup area offers a 3-day free trial, an extension for US$1 and a pitch of up to US$10,000 in credits.
Best for: People naming an online store they plan to build on Shopify.
Pricing:
- Generator: free, unlimited searches.
- Shopify trial: 3 days free, then an extension for US$1.
Watch out for:
- The tool funnels into a Shopify trial and an email signup.
- The page itself advises reviewing AI names before you use them.

Instant Domain Search
Speed is the reason to use Instant Domain Search. Its domain generator returns 100+ variations per keyword and sorts them into Available, Premium, Aftermarket and Taken, with filters for .com, .net, .org, .ai, .shop and .app and styles such as Brandable, Descriptive, Abstract, Compound and Portmanteau.
A separate business name generator works as a chat. You describe the business and it suggests names in small batches, each one checked against domains. Neither tool needs an account. The FAQ puts a typical .com at US$8 to US$15 a year at partner registrars.
Best for: People who already have a keyword and want to see what is free across many extensions.
Pricing:
- Free, no signup.
- Domains registered at partner registrars, typically US$8 to US$15 a year for a .com.
Watch out for:
- Trademarks are outside the tool's scope, says the Instant Domain Search FAQ. Run the site's separate trademark lookup on a shortlisted name.

NameMesh
Rebuilt around AI, NameMesh now has three free tools: one for business names, one for domain ideas and a plain domain lookup. The generator takes a description of up to 500 characters, a category and one of five styles: exact match, branded, compound, action-oriented or metaphorical.
That longer brief suits businesses that are hard to sum up in two keywords. Results are ranked and can be filtered, with .com and .ai among the extensions. Our NameMesh alternatives page compares it with other domain generators.
Best for: Founders who would rather describe the business in a paragraph than pick keywords.
Pricing:
- Free.
Watch out for:
- NameMesh sends you to a registrar to buy.

Hatchwise
Hatchwise swaps the algorithm for people. You post a brief, creatives submit names over a 10-day window, and you can award a winner at any point. Bronze costs US$99 and guarantees 30+ entries from 10+ creatives, with US$60 going to the winner.
Silver at US$189 doubles the guaranteed entries to 60+, and Gold at US$339 promises 150+ with free extensions. The US$49 listing fee is included in each package. Add-ons such as a private contest (US$30) or a 48-hour rush (US$35) cost extra.
Best for: Small businesses that want a human shortlist without paying agency rates.
Pricing:
- Bronze US$99, Silver US$189, Gold US$339, paid once per contest.
- Custom contests need a prize of at least US$350.
Watch out for:
- Hatchwise does no trademark clearance, and refunds apply only if the contest misses its minimum entries and you award no name, per the Hatchwise contest page.
Official site: Hatchwise.
Novanym
Novanym sells finished names rather than ideas. Each one is an invented .com with a matching logo, at a single upfront price that runs from US$1,995 (Xebok.com, Delphik.com) to US$6,995 (Truveau.com). You own the domain outright.
BrandBucket, its parent company, holds every domain in escrow. After payment you get an authorisation code, and transfers usually take 1 to 5 days.
Best for: Funded startups that would rather pay once than keep generating names.
Pricing:
- US$1,995 to US$6,995 per name, paid once, logo included.
Watch out for:
- There are no payment plans on the Novanym site, so the full price is due at once.
- The catalogue holds only made-up words on .com. Real words and other extensions are not on offer.
Official site: Novanym.

When to stay with NameSnack
Stay with NameSnack if a free .com is the main test. It only shows names you can still register as a .com, so there is no sorting through taken results, and it runs in Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese and German as well as English. The built-in logo designer also saves a step if you want a quick mark for a side project.
Frequently asked questions
Is NameSnack free?
Yes. NameSnack's FAQ says it is 100% free. It makes money from advertisers and a small commission when you register a domain through a partner, and you can register the name at any registrar you like.
Who owns NameSnack?
NameSnack is run by Zarla Inc. There is no paid plan, and the site funds itself through ads and partner commissions on domains.
Are NameSnack names really available?
NameSnack says its names are always available to register as a .com. Availability is not the same as being safe to use, though. Run a trademark check, for example with Atom's free USPTO screen or the trademark search on Instant Domain Search, before you buy a logo or print anything.
What is the best free business name generator?
For invented names, Namelix gives the most control over style and length. For a store, Shopify's generator is unlimited and free. For a quick trademark screen with the ideas, use Atom's generator. All three cost nothing until you register a domain.
